The NV Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée 1785 Brut is a signature non-vintage Champagne from the historic Piper-Heidsieck house in Reims, France, named in honor of the year the house was founded. It is crafted from a blend of over one hundred crus and features about 50-60% Pinot Noir, c. 30% Pinot Meunier, and 15-20% Chardonnay, boosted by reserve wines, with extended ageing on the lees (around 24 months). On the nose it offers aromas of pear, white flowers, almond, brioche and toasted bread with ripe orchard fruit and citrus. The palate combines a creamy mousse with fresh fruit flavors—apple, pear, golden grape—alongside notes of citrus peel, light toast and just a touch of smoke or baked bread. It’s well balanced, elegant with fine acidity, and finishes with flavors of citrus or grapefruit and a hint of almond. This Champagne is lovely as an aperitif but also pairs nicely with seafood, shellfish, light fish dishes, or mild cheeses.
