About the Estate
Founded in the 1950s, Domaine Paul Pernot remains a family affair, with Paul and his two sons continuing the tradition of excellence in Burgundy's esteemed Puligny-Montrachet appellation. As the largest landholder in the prestigious Les Folatières vineyard—widely considered among the finest Premier Cru sites in Puligny-Montrachet—the domaine manages approximately 3.08 hectares across three carefully tended parcels. The crown jewel is their monopole "Clos des Folatières," an entirely walled parcel reserved exclusively for estate bottling.
Tasting Notes
This exceptional white Burgundy captivates from the first pour. On the nose, discover an elegant tapestry of ripe pear and orange, interwoven with honeyed richness, toasted nuts, and delicate wisps of smoke. The palate delivers on the aromatic promise with lush, concentrated flavors that mirror the bouquet, finishing with distinctive saline minerality and a toasty complexity.
The wine's medium to full body wraps around the palate with a satiny, enveloping texture, while bright, succulent acidity provides structure and energy. Notes of white and yellow orchard fruit form the core, occasionally enhanced by exotic touches of gardenia and passion fruit that add intrigue and depth.
The Pernot Style
Known for their approachable, front-loaded style, Paul Pernot's wines offer immediate pleasure while possessing the balance and structure for graceful aging. This Clos des Folatières stands as a benchmark expression of Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru—showcasing both the elegance and intensity that have made this village legendary among white Burgundy enthusiasts worldwide.
