The 2023 Meinklang Burgenland Red is a biodynamic blend from Meinklang in Austria, made primarily of 60% Zweigelt, 30% Blaufränkisch, and 10% St. Laurent. The grapes are partially destemmed and fermented semi-carbonically in stainless steel, then rested for about six months before bottling.
This light-to-medium-bodied wine has a muted violet-ruby hue and aromas of brambly red fruit, cranberry, black currant, leafy tomato vine, and anise-seed herbiness.
On the palate it's juicy and fresh, with bright acidity, gentle tannins, and a savory, herbal finish.
At just 12% ABV, it's incredibly drinkable and “soif wine”–perfect slightly chilled (around 14–16 °C) with herb-rich Mediterranean dishes, grilled vegetables, or pizza.
