Domaine Charles Audoin 2023 Marsannay Rosé

Producer Background
Domaine Charles Audoin is a respected, family-run estate based in Marsannay, in the northern Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy. The domaine has been instrumental in elevating the reputation of Marsannay wines, particularly its distinctive rosés. Now managed by Cyril Audoin, the domaine continues its legacy of thoughtful farming and precision winemaking, with a strong focus on organic and sustainable practices.

Grape & Vineyard
This rosé is made from 100% Pinot Noir, sourced from vineyards in and around the Marsannay appellation. The soils are classic Burgundian limestone and clay, which lend structure and minerality to the wine. The vines are organically farmed, with careful vineyard management to ensure healthy fruit and low yields, supporting concentration and aromatic purity.

Winemaking & Style
The grapes undergo a very short skin maceration—around one hour—just enough to impart a delicate pink color without extracting tannins. Fermentation and aging are done in stainless steel vats to preserve freshness and aromatic clarity. The wine is bottled after about eight months, maintaining its bright, youthful profile.

Tasting Notes
The 2023 Marsannay Rosé is fragrant and refined, offering aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, rose petal, and subtle citrus. The palate is dry and energetic, with crisp acidity, juicy red fruit, and a long, mineral-driven finish. This is a rosé that offers both vibrancy and depth, making it an excellent example of the style Marsannay is known for.

Food Pairing Suggestions
This elegant rosé pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, including:

  • Grilled salmon or tuna

  • Roast or herb-marinated chicken

  • Seafood salads and shellfish

  • Charcuterie boards and soft cheeses

  • Mediterranean vegetable dishes or light pastas

Serving & Cellaring
Serve chilled, around 10–12°C (50–54°F). Best enjoyed young to capture its brightness and freshness, though it can age gracefully for 1–3 years if stored properly.
