2023 Domaine Cailbourdin Pouilly-Fume Les Cris, Loire

The 2023 Domaine Cailbourdin “Les Cris” Pouilly-Fumé is a refined expression of 100% Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from a prized southwesterly exposed parcel of pebbly limestone (“caillottes”) soils in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. The wine is beautifully concentrated and mineral-driven, with aromas of ripe citrus, pineapple, white peach, pear, lemongrass, and white flowers, layered with chalky and flinty nuances. On the palate, it is rich and textured yet energized by bright acidity, with flavors of citrus and stone fruit framed by pronounced limestone minerality and a subtle saline character. The finish is exceptionally long, elegant, and persistent, with the mineral complexity becoming increasingly pronounced with bottle age. A powerful yet precise Sauvignon Blanc, it pairs beautifully with oysters, shellfish, grilled or sauced fish, goat cheese, sushi, and delicate charcuterie.
