The 2022 Château Tour de Chaigneau from Lalande-de-Pomerol is produced on a small estate situated just north of the Pomerol plateau, where the soils are rich in clay and limestone with streaks of iron, ideal for Merlot-based wines. The blend is predominantly Merlot, complemented by small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, resulting in a supple yet structured Bordeaux. The wine opens with aromas of ripe black cherry, blackberry, and plum layered with hints of violet, graphite, and subtle toasted oak. On the palate, it is round and elegant with polished tannins, fresh acidity, and a persistent finish marked by mineral and spice undertones. This vintage is approachable in its youth but will develop further complexity with a few years of cellaring. It pairs beautifully with roasted duck, grilled lamb chops, beef tenderloin, or earthy mushroom dishes, and also complements aged hard cheeses.
