The 2021 Riecine Chianti Classico DOCG from Tuscany is a vibrant, meticulously crafted expression of 100 % Sangiovese sourced from high‑altitude vineyards in the Gaiole sub‑zone. The grapes were hand‑harvested, fermented with native yeasts in concrete vats, and matured for about 12 months in large old tonneaux and concrete before bottling. On the nose, it reveals bright raspberry and cherry fruit mingled with violet, pomegranate peel, and subtle hints of crushed stone and tobacco. The palate is medium‑bodied with lively acidity, finely‑grained tannins, and a savory, mineral texture leading to a long, composed finish of wild red fruit, dried herbs, and subtle iron-rich soil notes. This wine pairs beautifully with classic Tuscan dishes such as pappardelle with wild boar ragù, grilled lamb chops with rosemary, or aged pecorino cheese with honey. It is already engaging now but will continue to develop complexity with several years of cellaring.
