2021 No Love Lost Merlot, Sonoma Mountain

No Love Lost wines are produced in Napa, California. Their mission is to
make wine accessible to the curious by creating an open and welcoming
community. While emphasizing tradition, winemaker Jay Nunez has taken advantage of
innovation to bring discovery and exploration to all our senses.

Story
Sourced from a 2,100-foot elevation site on the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas
Mountains, this wine comes from forty-year-old vines in soils ranging from
volcanic ash to loam. The east-facing hillside vineyard’s minimal evening sun
exposure brings out its pronounced savory elements, particularly in the 2021
vintage.

Vineyard
The small berries with thick skins were destemmed and cold soaked for two
days before natural yeast took over for fermentation. To highlight the savory
nature of the fruit from these mature vines, the skin contact was prolonged
after primary fermentation. The wine was then aged for 18 months in 100%
Bordelaise French Oak before being bottled.

Vinification
Ideal with Meatball Pasta, turkey with cranberry sauce, mushroom risotto,
spicy pizza or with aged cheddar, Parmigiano, Reggiano & Manchego.

Food Pairing
Deep-purple red color in the glass. The nose is lightly vegetal and a little fruity
with notes of red fruit. On the palate, sage and rosemary lead to blackcurrant
and cherry bing. Baking spices, plums, graham crackers and redcurrants follow

100% Merlot.
Aged in Neutral French Oak.
