2020 Valfaccenda Roero DOCG, Piedmont

The 2020 Valfaccenda Roero DOCG is an elegant, terroir-driven expression of 100 % Nebbiolo from the organic Valfaccenda estate in the sandy hills of Piedmont’s Roero region, where low yields and meticulous farming emphasize precision and purity. It shows a translucent ruby color with aromas of sour cherry, plum and redcurrant, layered with hints of spice, Mediterranean herb and mineral lift. On the palate it is fresh and lively with taut acidity, fine yet present tannins and a graceful interplay of fruit and earthy complexity that leads to a lingering, minerally finish. This wine pairs beautifully with northern Italian classics such as ossobuco, mushroom risotto, grilled meats or aged hard cheeses, and is equally rewarding enjoyed on its own to appreciate its refined Nebbiolo character.
