Harlan Estate was founded in 1984 by Bill Harlan, and remains one of Napa's most prominent wine producers. The vineyard is located in the Oakville AVA, in the hills above Martha's Vineyard (Heitz Cellar) and To Kalon (Robert Mondavi), just north of Napa town itself.
"If we can enrich people's lives, and just maybe inspire them to do something beyond what they might otherwise have done, that brings us great satisfaction. Our purpose is to help our patrons to have an even more enjoyable and healthy life." - Bill Harlan
The 2018 is a 100 point wine (Robert Parker). Deep maroon color. On the nose it presents subtle cassis, black cherries and notes of crushed blackberries, with a tasty and earthy layer: forest floor, black soil, charcoal and dried herbs: sap and mint, as well as strands of violets.
In the mouth it is very concentrated in flavor with great body and grainy tannins well balanced with acidity, great longevity. Long with a mineral finish and earthy notes.
"These wines possess all the elements of greatness: individuality, power combined with elegance, extraordinary complexity, remarkable aging potential and compelling richness without heaviness." —Robert M. Parker, Jr. -- 100 PTS
