2018 Ampelaia Costa Toscana Alicante

The 2018 Ampeleia “Alicante Costa Toscana Rosso IGT” is a distinctive red from the coastal hills of Tuscany, Italy, made principally from the teinturier variety Alicante Bouschet.

It shows a bright cherry-red core in the glass and opens with aromas of fresh plums, stewed cherries and gentle herbaceous notes underpinned by Tuscan garrigue.

On the palate it is lively and juicy, with clear fruit, soft‐to‐medium tannins and a clean, accessible finish. While not overly complex, it offers charm and freshness and is best enjoyed in the near to mid term.

This wine will pair well with dishes such as grilled pork chops with rosemary, tomato-based pasta with sausage, roasted vegetables and polenta, or young Pecorino cheese with fig jam.
