2015 Berutti Pietro La Spinona “Sorì Gepin” Barolo DOCG

The 2015 La Spinona “Sorì Gepin” Barolo DOCG is a classic, single-vineyard Nebbiolo from the commune of Novello, showcasing the structured yet increasingly approachable nature of the outstanding 2015 vintage.

Sourced from elevated vineyard parcels and aged in large oak casks for 15 months, it opens with a complex bouquet of dried cherry, raspberry, orange peel, rose petal, and tobacco, layered with earthy notes, cedar, and subtle spice. On the palate it is full-bodied and focused, with firm but well-integrated tannins, vibrant acidity, and a savory core of red fruit, licorice, and mineral undertones, leading to a long, persistent finish with hints of spice and dried herbs. Now entering a beautiful drinking window with proper decanting, it balances traditional Barolo structure with a more open, expressive profile, making it ideal alongside braised meats, truffle dishes, wild mushrooms, and aged cheeses.

With 10 years of age, it’s drinking in its prime. Decant for 1-2 hours and pair with braised short ribs, osso buco, truffle risotto, or wild mushroom dishes.
