The 2014 Piper-Heidsieck Vintage Brut is a finely crafted Champagne from the historic house founded in 1785 in Reims, France, where cellar master Emilien Boutillat continues the estate’s tradition of elegance and terroir-driven winemaking. Sourced from select Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, the blend is about 55 percent Pinot Noir and 45 percent Chardonnay, with Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and Chardonnay from both the Montagne and Côte des Blancs. The wine offers layered aromas of apricot, brioche, toasted almond, and orange blossom, leading to a palate of pear, peach, dried apricot, and bright citrus accented by toasty, smoky mineral notes and a fine, creamy mousse. Its vibrant acidity and chalky finish make it an excellent companion for oysters, shellfish, creamy fish dishes, roasted poultry, or mild cheeses, and it shows the structure to age gracefully for several more years.
