This wine comes from Kistler Vineyards in California’s Russian River Valley, a producer known more famously for its Chardonnay but increasingly respected for its Pinot Noir made from heritage clones, low-yields, and classic Burgundian-inspired techniques.
It is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grown in the valley, harvested at night and handled with care to preserve freshness and site expression.
On the nose it offers red- and black-cherry fruit, wild raspberry, subtle tea-leaf or forest-floor elements, with a touch of cola or spice from oak integration.
The palate is medium-to-full bodied for Pinot, with polished tannins, crisp but ripe acidity, and a persistent finish that features both fruit and a slightly savory, mineral-tinged edge.
This vintage pairs with dishes like roast game bird, mushroom-rich risotto, beef Bourguignon, or aged Gruyère, and it benefits from being served around 15-17 °C with some air to open up.
