2012 Comte Senard Corton Grand Cru

This 2012 from the esteemed house Domaine Comte Senard is a Grand Cru Pinot Noir crafted on the slopes of the Corton hill above Aloxe‑Corton, where the vineyard soils of clay, marl and limestone yield wines of power and finesse. In this vintage the wine offers aromas of black cherry, forest floor, subtle spice and mineral underpinning, while the palate presents firm yet polished tannins, bright acidity and a long finish with hints of tobacco and under‑brush. Though it has matured, it still benefits from a gentle decant and pairs beautifully with game birds, roasted lamb, wild mushrooms or aged cheeses. Cellaring has brought out its elegance, and it is drinking very well now while still retaining some depth for further enjoyment.
