2011 Almaroja Pirita Arribes Spain

Charlotte Allen, owner and winemaker of Almaroja, farms the grapes for her wines in Arribes del Duero, the only denominación de origen in Spain that is entirely within a national park.

Pirita [pee-REE-tah] comes from the Spanish word for pyrite, also known as 'Fool's Gold' for its similarity to gold.

TASTING NOTES:
Mineral, hint of leather, dark fruit, black olives, full, fruity, ripe tannin. After oxygenation, the wine opens out to reveal a gamut of aromas: blackberry, myrtle, licorice and wild herbs. In the mouth it is balanced and long with firm yet fine tannins and refreshing acidity. It is a powerful wine which best accompanies well-flavoured dishes
