2010 Chateau Giscours, Margaux

The 2010 Château Giscours, Margaux is a beautifully structured Third Growth Bordeaux from one of Margaux’s most historic estates.  The 2010 Château Giscours is a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon and 29% Merlot picked between September 27 and October 14.

The exceptional 2010 vintage delivered remarkable concentration, freshness, and aging potential, and Giscours captured both the power of the year and the elegance for which Margaux is renowned. The nose is complex and expressive, offering aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, violet, cedar, graphite, and cigar box, accented by subtle notes of spice and forest floor.

On the palate it is full-bodied and refined, with a dense core of dark fruit, vibrant acidity, and finely woven tannins that provide structure without sacrificing finesse. Layers of cassis, plum, tobacco, and mineral notes unfold across a long, polished finish marked by exceptional balance and persistence.

Now entering a superb drinking window while still capable of further evolution, it pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, prime rib, game, and aged cheeses.
