Bill Harlan followed his passion to craft the finest wines in California as he developed Harlan Estate winery, and then Bond in 1997. Located in the western hills of Oakville, Harlan founded Bond Estate identifying it as a “Grand Cru” of Napa.
Vecina means neighbor in Spanish and it sits right next to Harlan Estate (Bill Harlan’s first project). This 11 acre vineyard is at the most southern part of the property sitting on the edge of the Maycamas Mountains. Wines from Vecina tend to be big wines with intense flavors.
"The 2008 Vecina is a huge, strapping wine bursting with dark fruit, leather, licorice, smoke, minerals and tar. It possesses striking mid-palate depth and more than enough fruit to stand up to the firm, imposing tannins. Iron, graphite, smoke and minerals are layered into the dark, brooding finish. This is an impressive showing."
