Produced by the esteemed house of Joseph Roty (now led by Pierre-Jean Roty), this 2022 vintage hails from a blend of village-level parcels in the commune of Gevrey‑Chambertin planted on old-vine sites with clay-limestone soils.
The wine opens with aromas of raspberries, cherries and licorice, layered with subtle floral hints of violet and a rising underlying mineral tension.
On the palate it displays medium body with vibrant acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a structure that is clearly built for extended aging rather than instant gratification. The finish is dusty, slightly firm and savory, showing excellent length and promising latent power. This Gevrey-Chambertin will reward patience and is best approached from the late 2020s onward.
For food, it pairs beautifully with roast duck or pigeon, beef tenderloin with shallot-red wine jus, wild mushroom risotto, or a cheese course of aged Comté or Epoisses — dishes bold enough to match its growing intensity and polished structure.
